Summer Dressing

SUMMER is my season! I feel like Olaf most of the year dreaming about summer and although I can get to melting point my brain is built for summer living and it all kicks in to auto pilot and I know exactly how to survive the heat.

I’d happily live in a sun dress and flip flops 365 days of the year, then decide which raffia basket would work best, even when we aren't in summer my raffia hats and baskets are always hanging in my house as a reminder of warmer weather, beach days and Ibizan sunsets.

The irony is that I hardly ever get to go away. My other half isn't much of a holiday goer, so I’m forever dreaming of that day when I jump on a plane and do all 3 Balearic islands for the whole summer and come back with a proper opinion about which island is best.

I am such a summer daydreamer, I watched all ‘The Durrells' on ‘catch up’ and managed it in three nights as it transported me to beautiful Corfu. Basically I don't think I’m built for UK living, however I do love a cashmere jumper and layers of silk… but I could come home for a holiday?

This summer has been the summer of the dress. A dress is the ultimate outfit and I’ll tell you why. It’s an outfit in one, unlike a jumpsuit it means you can go to the toilet without the need for an entourage to get in and out of it. H&M have had a really good season and I can safely say that some of my best purchase this summer for myself and my clients have been in H&M.

Here are a few of my faves….

I am a massive supporter of independent fashion brands, it’s money better spent than buying into higher priced ‘designer’ brands. Every time you buy from an independent someone literally does a happy dance and it does more than make their day, you are helping them reach their dreams and fulfil their potential as a designer and brand.

Here are a few of my absolute favourite summer brands.

Pampelone Clothing

Pampalone clothing has been a massive hit with my clients after I met Holly Scarsella who owns the Pamplone brand at a Sheer Luxe Fashion day a few years ago. Her love for summer dresses speaks to my soul and her choice of fabrics, colours and embroidery is everything that I love.

She has such a beautiful collection and even recently launched a mini me collection in association with to Mothers 2 Mothers a charity that I personally support.

I first found this brand on Instagram and fell in love with the whole collection instantly. I love accessories and feel these are indeed the essentials that take your outfit to a whole new level and can transform it into so many different looks. I love the Cara sandals and the leather sliders that are a collaboration with my other love Rae Feather.

Rae Feather

Rae Feather is a brand that I discovered a few years ago at London Fashion Week. Ria has the most amazing talent for simple elegant chic, I think I own 5 baskets now and still want more, they are all works of art. When they aren't being used I display them in the home as a simple reminder of summer days and my personal love of warmer climbs.

Iris is a brand I found at London Fashion Week Festival a few years ago also. Stunning embellished shoes and accessories. I absolutely love the gladiator sandals and the mini me versions too, Lilly simply wont take them off. They have the most stunning statement earrings and bangles, I recently took these to Nice on a girls trip and they will be coming with me to Ibiza too.

Melissa Odabash

Melissa Odabash has long been my go to swimwear brand. My absolute staples have to be the Zanzibar Swimsuit and Africa bikini. I think it always pays to invest in good swimwear as they last longer and make you feel so much better about yourself.

Helen Kaminski

Helen Kaminski hats have been a part of my summer wardrobe for the past 12 years. The classic roll up hat will forever be part of my beach wear along with my slightly more structured cowboy hat. A good hat is so important and can really be the finishing touch to your holiday wardrobe.

Uzma Bozai

Uzma Bozai is a fabulous brand that is new to me but now such a firm favourite. I absolutely loved wearing some of their collection on a recent visit to Nice in France. The summer clothing collection is simply stunning and so much thought has gone into the design process. I love supporting brands that are conscious about the footprint they have on the world and making items that are beautifully crafted and made. Uzma Bozai also have a fun collection of Sweatshirts which are perfect for beach days and sightseeing with friends or family.

Lucky Eyes London

Who doesn't love a bit of bling, especially on holiday! Lucky Stars London has the most stunning collection of turquoise that looks so blissful against sun kissed skin. When the sun comes out Turquoise is a must and absolutely stunning layered up.

Janis Foales

Janis Foals has the most stunning rage of boho chic inspired jewellery. I am a massive fan of her ear climbers and her new beach bracelets! Absolutely stunning and a fabulous price point too.

Cara Shoes

Cara Shoes have long been a staple in my wardrobe. They have launched some amazing metallic sandals that transform any outfit to something very special. There range of espadrilles are stunning too.

As you can see from my write up, accessories are key to summer dressing and there are some wonderful independent brands to choose from. I hope you find this helpful when choosing what to wear during your summer. Don't forget we wait for this weather all year, enjoy it!
